About David

One architectural design course led to another in high school for David, and soon he had found his career path. He joined Abacus with four years of experience at another architectural firm subsequent to earning his Associate degree. At Abacus, David concentrates on the technical side of architecture, primarily the development of construction documents. He likens it to fitting the pieces of a puzzle together, and takes pride in seeing a building come to fruition knowing he has had a part in that. The variety of the projects at Abacus keeps David engaged, and he brings a steadiness to his work: “I enjoy spending much of my time drawing and seeing the project develop over time,” he says.

On working with him

“I like a building to be carefully drafted because the client is looking for a quality product. I pay attention to details, asking questions, figuring out answers, while keeping the big picture in mind.”

On his favorite project

“For me, every project is an opportunity for being challenged and learning. I appreciate projects that stretch my experience.”

On his own time

“I enjoy spending time with my wife and two sons. We also enjoy the blessing of having a lot of extended family in the area who we see and spend time with frequently. I’m also involved in my church—with music, serving in our youth group, and men’s ministries.”

On relational architecture

“It’s a mindset that we are providing a service to the client, working to achieve their needs and goals. The client may not be able to visualize it on their own—our job is to help them realize what’s possible.”
