ABOUT MELISSA
Crediting her mom and other family members, also accountants, Melissa grew up liking math and order. She found numbers to be straight forward with the story they tell and enjoys being able to see the path of why things went the way they did, where the path should go in the future and how to get it there. Whether the changes needed are exciting or difficult or both, she believes there’s always room for more accuracy and efficiency.
On working with her
“I’m always challenging myself to think about things differently . . . what angle can I take with the financial information to help each project, employee, company, and/or community be more successful.”
On her favorite project
“Helping non-profits. They seem to attract the hardest working, most selfless people around and you’re exposed to a lot of different things. Plus, the budgets are always very challenging and it’s amazing to witness generosity in action.”
On her own time
“My husband and I enjoy camping, boating, waterskiing, and playing sports with our four kids. Anything that makes us slow down and keeps us in nature doing the things we love. I also love coaching my daughter’s volleyball team and helping them create the kind of memories I have of playing.”
On relational architecture
“While I’m all about the integrity of the numbers, relational architecture is about having integrity in how we value and appreciate our relationships with co-workers, customers and vendors.”
